Hair Salon

In Style Boutique 2, you can take on the role of a hair dresser at the Hair Salon. Customers will come to you requesting new haircuts and it's up to you to give them the perfect new do. The Hair Salon is located in Cafetiere Close and is managed by Noor. This is the place to visit if you would like to give your character a new haircut or give customers a great or disastrous haircut.

There are a few activities you can do at the hair salon. Select Noor standing behind the counter and she will provide you with three options:
  • Surprise Me! = Noor will give you a random haircut based off the style you choose. You can choose from casual, elegant, sweet, cute, grown-up and volume. Each cut costs $100.
  • Wig Box = Here you can view hairstyles stored in your portfolio. Up to 30 styles can be stored at once and these are the hairstyles that you can choose from during Fashion Shows and decorating mannequins. You can scrap, favourite or change the names of hairstyles stored in the portfolio.
  • Custom Style = Select your own haircut from the options available. For the hairstyle, you are able to choose all the styles you have unlocked. For information on unlocking hairstyles, please refer to the Hairstyle Guide. Each cut costs $150.

The main activity to do at the Hair Salon is giving customers new hairstyles. Up to two customers will appear requesting new haircuts. They will appear on the left side of the shop the same way as they appear at your Boutique. Customers may have a special symbol next to them, such as stars or musical notes. Please refer to the Characters Symbol Guide for more information on what each symbol means. A variety of customers will appear at the Hair Salon including the main characters, NPC's, the Stylettos and characters you have meet at the Caprice Chalet. Select the customer and click Talk to give them a new haircut. For further information on the types of requests you will see at the Hair Salon, please refer to the Customer Request Guide.

The customer will give you a short introduction on why they are requesting a new haircut. There are a number of reasons why customers request haircuts ranging from wanting a new image, attending a function or wanting to copy the style of another character. Here is an example of a request from a customer. She has a dance audition coming up and would like a new hairstyle for it.

Next the customer will give you hints on the type of haircut they are looking for. You need to ask them questions to unlock the hints and the bottom screen will options you have to ask the customer. Questions may be things like 'Would you like it tied up?' or 'How do you feel about a fringe?'. You get between two and three wrong answers before the customer won't give you anymore hints. There are five hints you can unlock in total and you need hints to find out what kind of style the customer is after.

Now come the haircut part. Using the hints provided, you need to give the customer a new hairstyle and choose a hair colour. For the hairstyle, you are able to choose all the styles you have unlocked. For information on unlocking hairstyles, please refer to the Hairstyle Guide. You can choose a style of fringe if the hairstyle allows it. Some customers will request no fringe and these are the earlier options in the fringe menu such as partings and swept back (anything that doesn't cover the forehead). For the hair colour, you can choose a base colour and highlight colour. Customers may specifiy what colour they want, so be sure to follow their request. It's a great idea to match hair colours to the customers outfit or style (ie black for gothic or natural tones for girly). The colours you can choose from are the ones available in your colour palette. You can see the customers outfit by pressing the towel option on the bottom of the selection screen (except in the hair colour section).

Once you are happy with the haircut, select ok to finalise the design. A short animation will play of the customer looking at the final product. If they are happy with the design, they will show it off. We will look at what happens when customers aren't happy with the cut you gave them later on.

The final design.
The customer was pleased with their new haircut.

The customer will tell you how much they love their new haircut. Usually they will talk about how spooky it was that you knew the exact style they wanted. They will make a comment about the colour as well, mostly about how they like it or it suits them.

The last step is to receive payment and you will earn $150 with each haircut. The customer will thank you and talk about how the haircut relates to their request, for example this new haircut fits with the girls love of hip hop artist and is perfect for her dance audition. Customers will sometimes receive fashion show tickets when you give out new haircuts.

Now onto what happens when you give the customer the wrong haircut. Sometimes customers won't give enough information on the style they are after which leaves you to guess what they want. Or maybe the style you gave them didn't match the image they were going for. Instead of getting the animation where the customer is happy with their new haircut, this screen will show up and the customer will tell you what they like and dislike about the haircut and request you give it another try. You get three tries to get the right style before the customer will either leave or just say the current one is ok if they like enough aspects about it (i.e. colour or fringe).

Fail Number One.
Fail Number Two.

    2. So do I! I love giving customers fake moustaches, weird makeup, and bizarre hairstyles. I'm glad to know someone does the same thing!
